It can be tough having little kiddos around and not catching whatever the latest cold is. We all love our kiddos, but we sure do have to protect ourselves. Woman down is not an option, right? My go-to at the first sign of a cold is wheat grass. It helps fight inflammation in the body, stabilize blood sugar, and is loaded with Vitamins A, C, E, iron (blood!), magnesium (relax!), calcium (bones!), and amino acids.
My gluten sensitivity has recently made it tough for me to take, so I am exploring other chlorophyll options. The secret is the juice from the grass – that’s the chlorophyll. Technically, the wheat grass is supposed to be harvested at a point where gluten would not be present, but that’s a whole new level of quality control that is tough to monitor. Just know there are other non-wheat grasses that may work for you.
Take a shot once per week and you will see noticeable differences in your hair and nails too. Whenever I’m consistent (sigh, we all have to commit, right?), my hair stylist comments on my hair growth without me even saying I’ve been taking wheat grass. And, while I prefer nail nubs – a girl’s got things to do! – my nail growth is stellar within days of downing the green juice.
It’s literally a shot. An ounce. Hold your nose and brave it. Chase it with an orange or lemon. You can get it frozen from healthy food grocers, or at your fave smoothie spot.
